Bloggers need not apply
Denise weighs in on the NYT story on blogs being held against job applicants. (She points to the Slashdotting of the story.)
Jeez, do we need a norm of understanding, which isn’t possible without a norm of forgiveness. And we’ll have ‘em. It’ll just take time. [Tags: denise_howell blogs media]

While I agree it would be very nice to have a “norm of understanding”, and a “norm of forgiveness”, I’d say it’s wishful thinking that we *will* have them. Blogs don’t change human nature. People are not going to become more understanding and forgiving because of blogs.
This is one of the dangers of blog-evangelism. Many A-listers can afford, in several senses, to speak without worrying about possible repercussions. Others outside that favored few do not have the luxury.

I’m impatiently waiting for the time when more organizations start asking what the blog phenomenon can do for their business, rather than viewing the whole thing as nothing more than a HR problem.
