Good Morning, Maryanne Kane !

(I regret getting to this so long after "CEO Corner" aired with your interview with Mr. Jablonski. I was hospitalized.)

I was seriously disturbed and disappointed with Mr. Jablonski's comments.

I live in Beverly, and know people who are "Geographically confined" to Cape Ann by the isolation of that area. Both my local Shaw's and the TWO (2) Stop & Shop stores clearly, conspicuously, demonstrably practice PREDATION apon their customers. Prices vary FROM STORE TO STORE W I T H I N each chain. I mean DRAMATIC store-to-store discrepancies. Purposeful Predatory Pricing!

Mr. Jablonski talked about how "Healthy" competition "Benefits" and "Improves" stores for the customer and businesses. (What a contradiction in terms!)

Where, for example, a box of instant milk, at store that has to compete with Market Basket, the product is $5.50 less than at Shaws. (Demoulas is truly has lower prices.)

Take another store in a truly predacious move. Stop & Shop BUILT A SECOND STORE to "Checkmate" Market Basket from the Beverly/Hamilton-Wenham market.

We can get ripped at S&S or worse at Shaw's.

And it's SPECIFIC to the Beverly Shaw's. At the Ipswich store, it's noticeably better! They know they've got us cornered here, so they take full advantage. And likewise in the Gloucester-Rockport area.

Mr. Jablonski blithely prattles about competing. He DOES quite the opposite. He artificially RAISES THE COST OF LIVING in Beverly to profit his company. Unconscionable.

That simple.

I'm horrified by his self-serving misrepresentation.
