as much as I love the internet and the sort of collective consciousness it has made possible- I'm really also waiting for the phase to roll about when people might be freed of the desk/cubicle. The spaces and ways in which we USE the internet are still extremely un-ideal... which makes me think that this may be looked upon as a very dark period in human development, it is possible that many years from now people will think: "can you believe they sat hunched over a desktop over 40 hours a week? how miserable is that???"
Granted there are new devices that are making this unshackled workstyle more possible, but it still seems to be a primarily US thing, right? Would also be nice if other parts of the world seemed to be more un-wired... (oh, on the other hand, can't help but think: how spoiled this all sounds.)
Nevertheless... how to celebrate the internet? I think I might try to NOT use the internet on that day and then write a big fat post the next day about what happened the day I didn't use the internet... taking a break is refreshing, and also makes one appreciate it more, oder?
