David, I just finished reading Tolstoy's "War & Peace" and based on his assessment of Napoleon and Czar Alexander, he would also say that Pres. Obama's greatness will likely be determined by chance and events outside of his control. I'm not sure I'm 100% onboard, but it is an interesting perspective.

I just joined whitehouse2.org and was very happy with the way it's put together, pretty much what I was wishing for from White House #1. It's set up for open debate and advocacy, transparency and (as Jim noted) dissent. Check it out!

How to get the blog right? I agree this is a priority and could be very productive but how to handle the volume? Perhaps incorporate a two-tiered structure like what was used for "Open for Questions" (see JOHO Dec. 29). Readers make comments and ask questions and can vote each other's contributions up or down, then the main web page would see users' input self-filtered.

Bit by bit, I am building a citizen networking site at WhiteHouse2.org. The idea behind the site is to imagine how the White House might work if it was run completely democratically by thousands of people on the internet. The odd thing is that it's attracted quite a number of conservatives since its debut right before the election, so it's skewing a bit in that direction right now, but I expect that to change over time. I'd love to get your input.
