Ah, David, I had something else in mind.

I'm getting just about what I'd expected from Obama when I voted for him, and I still think Obama can be, and probably will be, a transformative president. He's got the skills and the ambition, and it's a time that calls for transformation of some sort.

Right now, though, the people working hardest to shape that transformation are the right wing. Those of us on the left are still twiddling our thumbs in a way that our thirties counterparts relative to FDR would find irresponsible and ridiculous.

Google Wave may be transformative. I work every day with a specific type of technology that desperately needs to be transformed, and Google Wave may well be that tool. But will that transformation happen, and if it does, will it happen in a good way? Of that, I have very much doubt.

I just finished watching the Google IO 2009 demo of wave for Google developers, and it's easy to see the transformative potential of Wave. On the other hand, like Twitter, Wave represents a new paradigm for communication and may not appeal to some segments of the market.
Personally, I am very excited about the collaboration potential of Wave and can't wait to play & work with it.

Oh, don't get me started!

Yes, John, you're not getting 100% of the changes you wanted in the first four months. I understand your disappointment.

And it may even turn out that you and Obama don't agree 100%. Worse, it may turn out that things in the world are not 100% as you think they are.

Wait, did you get me started?...
