We friend people who are like us; we don’t become like the people we friend

Ok, so the title of this post grossly overstates the findings of Kevin Lewis, Marco Gonzalez, and Jason Kaufman who analyzed how tastes spread among friends on Facebook, at the one college they were able to study. Still, it’s interesting data, and I enjoyed interviewing Kevin Lewis about it for this Berkman podcast.

One Response to “We friend people who are like us; we don’t become like the people we friend”

  1. I agree about friending the people who are like us. Id like to ask your adice. I want to increase the amount of charitable acts on the web this Christmas so I had this rather unconventional idea of building a bottle-rocket propelled tiger and riding down a ramp off a jump. For every good deed posted to , I will add one bottle rocket to the engine. What do you think? Everyone who goes to the site likes the idea, but how do i get lots more people to the site and more submissions? thanks. Merry Christmas
