Well, I visited WikiData Intro and it seems I was wrong: "Wikidata is a secondary database. Wikidata will not simply record statements, but it will also record their sources, thus also allowing to reflect the diversity of knowledge available in reality.". Or Denny did not emphasise it during his lecture, or I might have missed it :-)

I had an opportunity to listen to live lecture of Denny Vrandecic from Wikimedia Deutschland during recent Semantic Tech & Bussiness conference in Berlin.

From the very beginning I knew it is a great project.

However, I understood that the data in wikidata will be referencable, but I did not record an emphasis on the references to sources data. I’m not even sure if there will be a mandatory requirement to provide such reference.

The way it was presented showed the concept similar to Wikimedia Commons, where the media objects are replaced by data objects.

Nevertheless, I agree that it will greatly help to build an ecosystem of “networked facts” — or in the genre of SW: networked/linked data.
