You have described the dilemma posed in perhaps 10% of the cases I was involved in as a court interpreter. That was sufficient to make me wonder what I might have missed in at least some of the 90% or so that seemed to be open and shut, or close to it.

It’s a great take on the murkiness of facts and the difficulty of connecting the dots. That there are multiple interpretations of the same event seems to be something that amuses us when portrayed in classic films but doesn’t seem to intrude on our lived experience.
