I’m trying out posting where I’ll be talking. I haven’t before because it seems to me to have no value except as boasting. Some of the events are open to the public, but I’m also going to mention some that aren’t because I guess I’m boasting. Let me know how obnoxious you find this. I’d be happy never to do it again. Anyway…

Monday I’m keynoting the DLF Fall Forum in Baltimore.

Tuesday I’m giving at talk in White Plains at the Westchester Library System Annual Meeting.

Friday I’m on a panel discussing “What’s next in the social media revolution?” at the the National Archives. There’s a Social Media Fair and Reception at 5:30, and then the panel at 7pm.

I have to say that Tea with the Economist was a fun experience. The Economist has been videoing tea-time discussions with various folks. In line with that magazine’s tradition of anonymous authoring, the interviewer is unnamed, but I can assure you that he is as astute as he is delightful.

We talk about what people will do with the big loads of data that some governments are releasing, and the general problem of the world being too big to know.

In the spirit of my Be A Bigger A-hole Resolution, here’s a video of my talk at Reboot this summer. It leads to “Is the Web moral” segment, based on a talk I gave at the Drupalcon a few months before.

In it, I claim to be a cyberutopian (gosh the Web is wonderful) and a Web exceptionalist (the Web is way different from what came before), but not a technodeterminist (the exceptional goodness of the Web won’t happen by itself.)

[Later that day:] Ok, fine, if I’m going to stay true to my Resolution: I’m going to be on HubSpot.tv today at 4pm EST, talking mainly about cluetrainy marketing stuff, I think, although I hope we also touch on some other stuff as well. (I think I’m going to start prefacing the titles of this a-holic posts appropriately.)
