Shock and Awe

It's beginning. I feel I am going to puke. I am keeping a trash bin next to me as I type this.

Why should we Americans even have to contemplate the possibility that a massive crime is being carried out in our name?

If it's of some consolation to you, the "Shock and Awe" did not serve its purpose. Like so many other attempts to bomb people into submission previously in history - be it Dresden in -44 or Hanoi in -72 - the end result is the opposite of what was intended. They've probably only steeled the will of the Iraqi army. Not that I think the Pentagon (or Whitehall for that matter) will take note of this. "Military intelligence is a contradiction in terms".

the purpose of shock and awe was to salvage as much of the civilian population as possible. it will be much easier to fight sadam with the support of as much of his country as possible. the question is, how is it possible to gain control of his country and maintain the support of its people? the answer is, don't kill any more of them then you have to. the idea here is to take out saddam's party without killing alot of civilians. this campaine was to toke out as much of the military party in iraq as possible while flexing out military muscle to sort of show what there up aginsed.

do i think the "shock and awe" was as effective as they wanted it to be? no i don't but they do have half of the intellegence in the nation working on, and for that i put my trust on the outcome being what we hoped for irreguardless of how it got there.

Hitler was in power for how many years before he eventually committed sucide. I wonder how many of his staff realised, long before that, that he was absoluely crazy? We in Australia watch Americans not only kill Iraqis, but other coalition members in this surreal 'Survivor Iraq" t.v show. Bush is sending in hundreds of thousands of troops, to kill a few thousand people- like killing fish in a barrel.Where are the WMD? Isn't that what they went into find? He's ravaged a little country, with no army to think of and then whines when they aren't playing by the "rules".What- the rules as defined by Bush?Just how many people does he think are going to be left to rebuild anything? Plus the fact the good old self serving US of A is in there putting in tenders to rebuild before the Iraqis have even managed to dig holes to bury their dead.If you don't understand over there, just what kind of anti- American feeling is building world wide, just wait until this sham is over. The Imperial USA will be shamed in history at the madness of this particular King George.

those rules or should be called moral rules are the geineva convention. and i guess that u don't think saddam is like hitler, your right he doesn't have the large country and the hundreds of thousands of soldiers or the jewish people to kill but while hitler gassed jews and other anti-germans, saddam has been using chemical weapons on the kurds and firing on his own citizens when he sees fit. sounds like a smaller version of the 3rd reich to me.
