I read this article and started to comment, then found myself off sending email to people I know in the telecom industry try to gain their current perspective. I felt like my WiFi/heroin addiction may have skewed my perception. Since there really is no 3G at this point (only what providers wish they could sell as 3G), I can't vouch for any real benefit I see in the hype they'd like to sell. To extend their really bad analogy, the heroin is far better for you than the methadone in today's environment.

Since the real successes the traditional networking industry is finding are really WiFi solutions via Boingo and Wayport, all they're really doing is playing into the market they intially denied existed.

BTW David, it's always been WiFi. Don't listen to anyone who tries to tell you Wi-Fi. That's just wrong on so many levels...

Ken, the Wi-Fi Alliance, among others, is relentless in its hyphenation. And Google reports twice as many hits for the hyphenated version as for God's own preference for the unhyphenated spelling.

Just because a lot of people are wrong doesn't make it right. hehehe I always use WiFi and always will. But then when my friends jumped off a bridge, I followed my mother's advice and didn't jump too. ;-)
