In Coolidge Corner in Brookline near where I live, there's a Starbuck's three doors from a Peet's Coffee. Starbuck's charges for it's wifi. Why the hell doesn't Peet's provide free wifi? Posted

The great joy of the great coffee shop down the road - JP's in Austin, TX. Wifi, sure it is free. Plug in your umbilical cord, sure if you bring your own cat-5 there is a jack.
On top of that the shop is local and JP is a good guy.
So wi (sorry, couldn't resist) would I visit that other store?
About the only thing I miss from the Bay Area is Peet's... mmm, box-o-coffee first thing in the morning and a whole lot of Java programming.
Oh, I enjoyed Small Pieces - thanks

Because Peet's can get by on the superior quality of their coffee... Which Starbucks can't? Also, Peet's coffeehouses (at least here in the Bay Area), aren't typically so sit-down-and-chat-and-read oriented... They're more about the beans and the to-go coffee. WiFi wouldn't necessarily add to their experience.
My question to you: Why are you (and so many other pundits) so blindly slaverish about free Wifi? There's more to life, you know.

I meant, "Which Starbucks can't.", with no question mark.

It's coming from the fact that if someone doesn't provide Free Wifi, there's this weird assumption that their deficient or clueless or missing a point.
Peet's is a coffee company, not a connectivity company.
