Step-by-step instructions: 1. Re-install Outlook for the 43rd time 2. Open an email from someone not in your contact list. 3. With the cursor in the person's email address, select "Add new contact" 4. Type in a business phone number 5. Click out of the business phone number field 6. You will get a window called "Location Information" that will ask you for information about your current location. Click "Cancel." 7. You will get a window called "Confirm Cancel" that warns you that failure to enter information into "Location Information" may result in the auto-dial feature not working. 8. Because you don't dial from Outlook, follow the instrucions and click "Yes" to cancel the "Location Information" window. 9. In "Location Information," click "close. 10. Go to step 7. 11. Repeat until your fingers are nubbins. Posted

I’ going through a similar, not identical, process trying to pay my phone bill at Verizon Wireless. It turns out that — after one goes through several screens of entering top secret information — the bill-paying system is down.
Gosh — wonder if they might signal that at the first step?

By the way, the slogan for Verizon Wireless is, “We never stop working for you.” It looks cute up above the error message that reads, “System Failure — My Account is temporarily unavailable at this time. Please try again later.”

One word for you, David: Pegasus. Fast learning curve from Outlook, but stable, feature rich and not prone to email exploits. Been using it for years. Oh yes, it's freeware/donation-ware. http://www.pmail.com/
