Playing the Averages

Jeff Angus' highly-themed blog — what business managers can learn from baseball — has a piece that carefully explains the context for understanding averages. I skipped the middle because it got all math-y, but you probably didn't burn out your arithmetical neurons at a Grateful Dead concert in 1972, and the conclusion in any case is worth keeping in mind.
