The whole "antipiracy" thing is not ultimately about preserving the rights of artists. It's about preserving the value of intermediaries who have already fucked over the artist. And from a purely ethical perspective, I don't see why the intermediaries have a leg to stand on.

I wrote a very long rant on my own blog (http://www.planetnomad.blogspot.com/2003_09_01_planetnomad_archive.html#106459225541307468) recently in which I argued that file sharing is indicative of a culture shift most easily correlated with age, but truly denoted of the place technology takes in modern lives. The RIAA should swing with this punch in order to survive because there's no stopping this fire.

Many of the celebrities supporting RIAA seem to be worried that they may end up with fame...but no wealth. Do you think that is likely?
I think it is much more likely to be the engineered shortages and crooked contracts of record companies that cause talented artists to end up 'broke like Hammer'. Celebrity is the new wealth, right?
