When I tried to log in to eBay tonight, my password wouldn't work. So, I had eBay send me my login name. Sure enough, it's not mine. Somehow, another name has been attached to my email address. Not good. My credit card companies don't report any unusual activity, though. eBay doesn't make it easy to report this problem. Their "Contact us about security page" has a small tree of choices, and this isn't one of them. Their "email us" button nonsensically reports that I haven't filled in all fields, when there were no fields at all to fill in. So, I'm sitting in their live help chat client, waiting an average of 28 minutes, to chat with a support person. And, no, I didn't fall for one of the eBay scams that has me "update my records." Later Ok, since last June, eBay has been warning us that it was going to disallow email addresses as logins, a reasonable precaution. They promulgated this warning via emails, but since I get a couple of spoof eBay messages a day, who pays attention to eBay messages. And they use popups. But who has popups turned on these days? So, I never protected myself straight into fearful ignorance. Am I mistaken or has this blog become nothing but an account of the many ways in which I am a moron? Posted

Damn it, I hope the same thing didn't happen to my eBay account.
I'm on your side, Dave. EBay used two forms of communication that have been screwed over. Maybe they should get AIM SNs and send mass IMs.

The range and depth of ways in which you are becoming a morn still makes for great reading though David.

At least you can still spell moron which I clearly can't!

Think of it like this: You are a moron so that we don't have to be. And we greatly appreicate your sacrifice, or we will do once we stop laughing so hard.
Of course, I too have an Ebay account, have religiously deleted all Ebay/scam emails and have popups turned off. The next time I log in, I'm sure it will now be a delightful adventure* instead of the frustrating nightmare that it would have been had you not blogged your moronicity for our education and delectation.
(* for definitions of 'delightful' and 'adventure' not currently in the dictionary.)

You have to wonder just how many times eBay has sent out personal details to the wrong person - we probably don't know about half of them, nevermind online banks, scary!

Any personal account of ones life, as long as it is an honest account, is just a laundry list of how that person is a moron.
I think it just shows that you don't censor your blog to make youself look better in our eyes. Makes better reading too, because it's funny, laugh!

You are NOT a moron. I had almost the exact same thing happen to me, except that whoever hacked my account got it suspended before I even got a chance to do anything. Evidently they used it for shill bidding, so there was no way ebay was going to give me my account back even though I had over 2000+ 99.7% feedback. I hope this never happens to you, but if it does, I found a site that tells you how to get back on at http://ebaysuspension.ezguidebooks.com. If it wasn't for that site I would have never gotten back on. BTW, I didn't open any phishing emails either and I still got hacked.

Yup, my account got compromised yesterday. My account, email addressed used for the account...everything. Tried to charge my credit card $47 for a setup fee too. My decision was instant to remove my account from ebay altogether. Of sourse, ebay makes it so there is no easy way to do this. I am calling right now to demand that it be removed immediately. I'd rather make the drive and go pay extra for something at the store rather than risk getting ID theft on ebay every again.

My account has been suspended. When I clicked on the link to the site you provided to get baack on ebay, it sent me to a access forbidden page. Any other site would be helpful

I was suspended too. Sucks. After about a week of searching forums for answers, I found someone who helped me out. He got me a brand new ebay account set up with all different info and ip, a paypal account, bank account and atm card. I am completely set! Works perfectly. Back and running. Was very grateful for his assistance. If you need help, his email address is ebysux@hotmail.com.
