An intentionally naive question of mine gave the USAToday its lead for its story on blogging today. They play it as if I'd said "Shove it!" to a venerable, Pulitzer-Prize-winning journalist. Oh well. It could have been worse. Posted

This is beautiful!!! Thank you. Can we nominate you as something--President of Writing about 3-foot-big Bill Clinton Lips or Something? Your quotable quotes are the best things I've seen coming out of the DNC. I blogged it.

Kudos to you for getting the key distinction between blogs and traditional journalism into the nation's best read (if far from best) newspaper. Honorable journalists may try their best to be fair and balanced, but we've all got biases, conscious or unconscious that come out when we tell a story. And most corporate media in America stopped pretending they were objective and unbiased years ago. Bloggers let you know who they are, what they think and where they're coming from so they can report and you can decide. (Wouldn't it be refreshing if television networks did the same.) Thanks for helping USA Today explain why it's important that you guys are out there.

David, that's what courage is in journalism.
See it and say it.
You're doing great. Keep it up.

According to USAToday:
"But that doesn't mean you can't take your personal opinion out of a story." >
Mr. Mear, please provide your precise definitions of "objective" as opposed to "personal opinion"....

According to USAToday:
Mears said that he agrees "no one can be totally objective."...

Anyone reading this should send it along to other countries in the hopes that these large corporate giants can step back from their bottom line and look at their lack of safety and value for human life. When the bottom line becomes your life base, and the fact that you, because of your careless actions destroy a once happy family it's time to look deep into your heart and soul.
It appears that Occidental/Allegro is this type of company----their newest hotel manslaughtered a little boy. No apologies, no remorse, but I'm sure plenty of wishes that the cover-up would have worked, but it did not. Yes, Occidental/Allegro Grand Xcaret you are ALL guilty, very guilty, and instead of being men and standing with your wrong doing you ALL hide like small children when you know you are 100% guilty of stealing an 8 year olds life. Be proud of what you have done and how many people you have effected. Your corporation is pathetic.

This is a story that pains any one that has a true heart and soul. To destroy a little boy's life, treat the family as if they did something wrong, and then cast them off broken and shattered is the most horrific thing that I've heard. I read a bio on Brent and without doubt a wonderful little boy. Does every one who works for Occidental in Spain and the Grand Xcaret have such little feelings for such an unnecessay death? I believe many people should share this info with others in the hopes that these types of operations should not be patronized until they make things right with the family

I'm looking into getting a home mortgage loan in california and needed to find a website to apply for a mortgage loan. I found this site, home mortgage refinance loans california and they seem okay. Anyone tried them?

Just when you think you have heard the worst...here comes another one. I have never heard anything as sick as what happened to Brent and his family. I just hope that he never knew because I do not think I could ever get such an awful visual out of my head.
One thing I know for sure is Adios Mexico---I will encourage every one to read what you did to an innocent 8 year old. I pray for him and his family and that all of the guilty get their fare due.

I have read the story of what the Occidental Grand Xcaret did, and how they stole the life of an innocent child. The Riveria Maya is very active in drawing tourists to the area, but many, many basic, and life threatening mistakes are being made. We all need to send this area that they must be more conscience and regard safety and life as a top priority. To read the detailed information.
