I voted, so I guess I'm allowed to post. Frankly, I am a marginal voter. Like so many, I am not happy with the choices given to me. I understand and sympathize with those who are turned off by the process.

You're a Brookline voter right? So you know how "democratic" our district is...4 Democrats running unopposed, 1 race with 2 Democrats and only 1 race with a Republican running. Then you have Kerry and Barney Frank as locks.

Regardless of my choices I can't wait to vote for the first time (at a booth). It strikes me that people who don't vote rarely complain about politics anyway. The people I know who aren't voting are some of the most apathetic humans alive.

I can't remember who said it first (if you can help with attribution, please me let me know), but I remember reading this as a teenager:
"Bad governments are elected by good citizens who don't vote."

I'm with Matt and Trey on this issue: if you're not going to take your vote seriously, just stay home. I though it was classic how they put Carson Daly in his place on the "Rock the Vote" trendy celeb issue on the superlate show last week.

When I voted this morning, we did have an instance of voter intimidation at our polling place. This very large guy was wearing a t-shirt that was couple sizes too small for him that said "Dumb and Dumber" with pictures of Bush 41 and Bush 43. I really did not need to see that guy's belly button. Ick.

I joked to a buddy that if I knew we were still celebrating Halloween, I'd have worn a skirt and a "Lesbians for Bush" sweatshirt. Blank stares, I tell ya...

Doesn't sound very intimidating to me.

It still isn't too late to call someone who has never voted before and let them know that their voice counts, and that as a democracy we WANT to hear their voice.
