Nah, we're probably happiest because we're too lazy to be anything else. :-)

Puerto Rico is the latest world's happiest, and Latin countries in general seem to come out on top in such surveys, but it's a surprisingly hard trait to pin down. For example, "Are you happy?" doesn't seem to be a question that occurs to many in a number of oriental societies.
