A new report from eMarketer (reported by the Center for Media Research) says boomers are kicking 65-and-over butt when it comes to Net participation:
The full report will set you back $700, so let me boil it down for you: Out of our way, grandpa and grandma! Boomers rule! Booyah! [Disclosure: I am 54 and a half and still have some of my own teeth.] Posted

What a strange thing to say.
When you're 65 in 2016, will you disconnect your broadband or what?
[disclosure: I am missing 3 teeth, with one replacement not of my own. At 66 I think I'm doing well with the dentist. In 2016 I'll be happy to still be a geezer geek, toothless or not.]

(The post was supposed to be mock triumphalism.)

David, I really appreciate your perspective and reading your blog. And while I can see some humor in your current post about a future filled with boomer online shenanigans, I also felt something a bit harsh in the statement "out of our way grandma and grandpa ...."
I'm 59 and feel there's already too much of a distance between the generations. And, personally, I'd like _not_ to be booted out of the way if I live long enough. I want to be participating.

The "out of the way" remark was intended to be so over the top that it'd be clear that it was mere mockery. Then I flagged it further by stating my own age -- old cootness is only a handful of years away for me -- and dental instability.
So, Bill, it'll take someone a lot younger than me to boot you -- and me -- out of the way.
