British business blogging conference

Our Social World in Cambridge, UK, Sept. 9 looks like it's got a a great bunch of speakers. Theme: "Why don’t British businesses blog?" (Possible sub-theme: "Why are all the speakers men?")

None of them have read the Cluetrain Manifesto.

Unfortunately so many uptight Brit companies are trying to shoehorn traditional PR into the online environment that they are all reassuring themselves with the old sheeplike 'all the great and good are doing it...'.

No-one got fired for maintaining a wall of silence, etc.

"Our Social World is about bringing business leaders of today into contact with the visionaries and tools that are creating the new social milieu."

I think something is going on the contrary in this world. What kind of leaders are they? When I was a child I was imaging leader of this kind:

"Our business leaders of today is about bringing Our Social World into contact with the visionaries and tools that are creating the new social milieu."

Who are the leaders? The visionaries or businessmen?
