Through Afghanistan with a circus

Islamicate runs a msg from a friend traveling through Afghanistan as part of a circus. A snippet:

Along the way, Hamid, Du'ad, Nadir, Asad, Jamil, and Sher Khan have more than a dozen laughing fits. I'd never seen a group of Afghan men laughing playfully until this trip, even though it happens all the time here. They sing to the radio and clap until my ears echo with Indi and Afghan pop music. We stop along the way and squat by a river, eating fresh mangoes and watermelons, then for daily prayers. They tease me like a close friend and we break bread together at every meal, eating naan flat bread for breakfast, then potatoes, rice, oils, and naan for lunch and dinner.

Yup, Calling from America .. land of the Big PX and supermarkets that amaze all who are not initiated in the concept of all you can eat, let alone, fresh water, sanitary sewage, and "All You Can Eat".. at every corner...

Yes, I have washed my laundry in a river, beating with rocks, and hanging clothes to dry on trees.. not something you will see in America anymore.. Folks in 3rd world do it all the time and feel lucky IF they can find fresh water to drink & cook with.. we are sooo lucky.. to have potable water at all times.. Lucky US!!!

Anyway, the best way to deal with it is to fit in with being a human.. as we all are, hopefully. The Koreans I lived with understood perfectly, and they mostly are cool... except for my ex-wife In Son who insists that I suck her pussy.. and I WILL NOT!!.. If her stuff was Orieantal clean then I would.. as the girls from the Orient have tasty snatches of good flavor.... as my opinion!! Vegitarians of good stature.
