2006 and truth

I've been hesitant to say this out loud because it's just too baseless and empty, but what the hell:

2006 will be The Year of Truth.

At least 2006 will be a good year for truth.

I don't know why I think so. But I do. And I've never been right yet.

Thanks for having the courage to say so anyhow.

Let's make is so, shall we?

I'm with you.

"Truth? You can't handle the truth..."
- Jack Nicholson in that movie he was in

But really. I'm for that thing. There's a line in the Book of John about how it will make us free.

Of course, in a mood of high irony the CIA adopted it as a motto.

Well, if you're right, then 2006 has started out as somewhat promising. With Jack Abramoff agreeing to spill his guts, we're going to see some truth finally coming out in DC. But somehow it doesn't seem to be pure idealistic truth to me.

melliflu, that is the little book -- Discourse and Truth, the one on Parrhesia -- that got me reading Foucault again after 25 years. It is an amazing work.
