Deval Patrick!

I'm at a snack table in the back of the exhibit hall at the Scottish Learning Festival checking my email, so I learned about Deval Patrick's huge win — in the Democratic primary for governor of Massachusetts — from email from Freedom to Marry, an anti-discrimination-in-marriage group. Patrick won big. That's fantastic news.

By the way, this is also a win for Internet politics. Patrick ran a grassroots campaign that's making smart use of the Net. Plus, he's been more direct and more human than candidates often are, which, right or not, I take as being part of the Net ethos. Patrick is going to stir up some powerful enthusiasm in this state.

Also by the way, the size of his win accords with what the polls predicted, which is noteworthy only because I'm told that poll numbers for African-American and women candidates typically are higher than their actual votes because people lie to pollsters not to expose their racial and gender biases. Not this time, though.

Go Deval! [Tags: deval_patrick politics massachusetts]

While listening to a Deval Patrick TV promotion without watching the screen, my subconcious convinced me it was the voice of Gary Shandling, the comic. The delivery and voice tone are virtually identical. Go figure.

I'm against racial and gender descrimination!!! It's inhumane to divide people according their rights!!!

Have you all noticed the similarities in the sound of Deval to MLK? Notice the down inflection at the end of his sentences. It is so reminiscent. It actually, give ma a good feeling.

Heh, twice this week while not actually looking at the TV I've wondered why Shandling was endorsing Patrick, only to turn around and realize it was Patrick himself.

I DO HOPE THAT MR.PATRICK WILL READ THIS AND RESPOND.!!!!!! AS A FIRE FIGHTER IN A MASS. CITY I HERE ALL KINDS OF THINGS AND NUMBER ONE IS THAT MR. PATRICK IS A LIAR. CAN'T BE TRUSTED AND I WOULD NEVER VOTE FOR SOMEONE BLACK EVEN IF HE IS MORE QUALIFIED.
SO MR PATRICK IF YOU HAVE ANY REAL INTENTIONS ON BEING GOVERNOR OF MASSACHUSETTS YOU HAD BETTER GET OUT AND TALK TO THE UNIONS THAT SEEM TO HAVE A POWERFUL BASE IN THIS STATE.

What does Deval PAtrick want to do :

Give drivers licenses to illegal aliens (criminals).

Give tuition breaks to illegal aliens.

He is for reparations for African Americans. Since this will never pass, he is going to raise income taxes on the middle class and put that money toward low income programs.

Deval Patrick defended a cop killer.

Do you want this man as Governor ?

I know this post will never be seen as this is a pro Deval site.

"Together we can!"..... we can what? Empty the prisons of rapists and murderers? Tax all the legal Americans back to the stone age? Take more of my hard earned money and give it to leeches who choose not to work? Give drivers liscences to crimaliens? Turn Massachusetts into a socialistic experiment in social-engineering? HEALEY-HILLMAN 2006!!!

What does Kerry Healey want to do?

Continue to make Mass higher education increasingly unaffordable to everyone by raising more fees. Currently fees are triple the cost of tuition.

Coddle criminals who want to buy guns by easing restrictions on licenses for people with criminal backgrounds.

Coddle bigots and religious extremists by playing to their fears of "aliens" and sexual predators.

Continue to slash aid to cities and towns and allow our infrastructure to continue to crumble.

Avoid universal health care for fear of actually giving health care to someone who doesn't "deserve" it.

Ignore the rise in crime and the shortage of police on the streets by not funding crime-prevention programs and failing to support law enforcement.

Tear down the American criminal justice system and betray the legacy of John Adams by suggesting that lawyers who do public defense work are soft on crime.

Do you want this woman as governor?

Just a note to clarify that on May 11, 2005, the President signed H.R. 1268, P.L. 109-13. Title II is headed, “Improved Security for Driver’s Licenses and Personal Identification Cards” and disallows state identification for persons who do not meet legal citizenship requirements. States that do not comply risk loss of federal funding and its IDs not being recognized by the federal government (including air travel). **Enough about alleging candidates "want to" do this!!**

Regarding the juvenile posting on endorsements, Deval Patrick lists the endorsement of 50 labor groups and professional organizations (including the Intl. Brotherhood of Correction Officers, the Intl. Brotherhood of Police Officers and the City of Springfield Police Union)...Check out the list and you'll see how a whole bunch of machinists, carpenters, masons, electricians and masons are going to vote for a black guy for Governor...Oh, no endorsement list on the Healey site

Politians like Mr.Deval Patrick are the ones that give me hope. He understands where I'm comming, he overcame many obstacles to get where he is today. What the hell does Healey know about being black, what the hell does she know about struggling? So what he was lawyer for a cop killer, that was his JOB and if I remember correctly the whole judicial system of this country was based on the principal of innocent unitl proven guilty. He sets a great example for so many young black men, Kerry Healey on the other hand is a spoiled white woman (like so many of the white women in Massachusetts)instead of focusing on the real issues at hand her entire campagin on smear ads. Deval Patrick is soft on crime? that's the most idiotic statement I've heard in my life. During the Romney/Healey adminstration more that 100 young black men have been killed, the BPD is even more corrupt than the NYPD and nothing has been done about it. At least with Deval Patrick, we know he has a plan to try and curb the fast rising crime rate. More police in the neighborhoods that need them, stricter guideliness as to who becomes a police office. Any one who votes of Kerry Healey is an idiot.

How can one slurr a man with a vision to create a more equitable life for the less privileged? How can that be wrong or argued? My understanding of our illegal immigrants is that they work much harder than the average American - why? Because they have to. Without a driver's license they are more limited in opportunities and WILL be a bigger drag on our resources. Why not allow them to take jobs that are available if they can get there. Why aren't the Americans taking these jobs? Because we are a lazy population that takes government aid for granted.

Are you serious? White women spoiled? Hmmm sounds a bit racial...but oh yes we are not in a diversified state...well wake up people, Deval Patrick white black yellow does not matter...If you are a small business owner or middle class citizen kiss your rights goodbye..We will be paying for all the people that dont want to work..or feel it is their right to collect from the state. This state is going to be a MESS within 4 years. If anyone has a brain they will get out of Taxachusetts or is that Minorachusetts. Run while you can before they shackle you to a stake. This campaign has been one of utter ridiculousness. No candidate actually has a REAL plan, just kept saying a whole bunch of NOTHING and you fools believed it.
Good luck....I'm just glad I'm getting out & going to a real state that lets people live their OWN lives without telling them what they can or cant do. Get out Big Brother.....

Im not a Republican, Im not a Democrate, im an Independent. Im a college student, who after graduation is going to need to start paying off all those college loans i have aquired throughout my tenior at MCLA. My sisters arent to far behind me in age, will their loans be larger then mine? Will any of us even be able to find jobs after graduation? There is no guarentee. What would Healy do to help our situation? What is Patrick going to do? I dont know, and neither do any of you negative blogers. All those who praise one candidate and put down another, regardless of your political affiliation, your all the same. Seemingly hot headed, and unwilling to accept ideas from someone with different values. I say, We have a new governor, lets benefit from the good changes, and get rid of the bad. If we can survive this long under a president who couldnt find his way out of a paper bag, i think we can prosper as a state under a democratic governor.
And "Taxachusetts"? Some of those taxes pay for my education as well as your childs, your friends, your aquantences, so as another bloger said, "get out while you can" if you cant deal with it.

"What the hell does Healey know about being black, what the hell does she know about struggling?" "Kerry Healey on the other hand is a spoiled white woman (like so many of the white women in Massachusetts)instead of focusing on the real issues at hand her entire campagin on smear ads."

Wow, what an extremely ignorant and racist statement. How do you know MOST of the white women in Massachusetts are spoiled? Do you personally know over 75% of the white female population in Massachusetts? Did you even know Kerry Healey is not originally from Massachusetts and that she didn't come from money? I doubt there's a 'yes' answer to any of the aforementioned questions, so please leave race out of it.

Wow! A black liberal idiot... who would have thought posssible LOL. This stance on the illegals is another attempt to destroy America, it's laws, and the fabric of our country. Deval is an idiot, a total moron. I wouldn't vote for him to clean my toilet. You yankees like him, and that waste of a drunk Kennedy... keep them.

Hello all Deval coordinators.

I have spent the last several weeks editing and fine
tuning my Deval Patrick Victory Night DVD. I taped the
entire celebration start to finish with music included
and edited everything together into a package. It has
Martha Coakley, The Kennedy brothers, Sen. Kennedy,
Sen. Kerry, and of course the speech from Deval
himself, along with the musical performances. So for
those of you who participated in the campaign it would
be a meaningful piece to keep.
Also it would be good for those of you who missed the
celebration or who just want to remember the sweeping
night for democrats and deval patrick!

I am willing to make dubs for $20 a copy. You could
send a check to me or cash through the mail, and I'll
dub a copy of the event onto DVD. It will be on DVD
minus R. I spent a long time working on this project
and would like to make a little profit off it anyway.
Half of the proceeds from each sale will go to support
the Jimmy Fund.

The reason I need to charge for the DVDS is that I
spent a lot of time making it and producing it and I
have to pay for the DVDS themselves. (I have to buy
the blank DVDS myself from stores which can add up)
Hope you all understand

Please email me at jdearman77@comcast.net
if you'd like a DVD

Remember half of the money goes to the Jimmy Fund's
fight against cancer research.

Hope to hear back from some of you.
Sincerely,
Jeff Dearman
