Fleishman interviews Varsavsky on Fon: It's all about the telefons

Martin Varsavsky, Fon's fearless leader, and Glenn Fleishman finally got to talk together. Glenn has a long post about it. This is, from my point of view, the definitive interview, at least so far. Glenn's take-away: "Fon today seems much more about telephony to me than it did yesterday." (Disclosure: I'm on Fon's board of advisors.) [Tags: fon martin_varsavsky glenn_fleishman wifi]

I had a quick thought: how about this as a stock phrase. "(Disclosure: I'm a potentially compensated advisor for X.)" or "(Disclosure: I am an uncompensated advisor for X.)" Small item, but would be terse and revealing.

Martin was great to speak with and I'm always glad to give a long point of view to someone who has the wherewithal to change the world or some part of it even when I disagree with them. If they're credible, spreading their views provokes more debate.

I continue to believe that "I am an advisor..." is sufficient. But, instead of adding words, I'm starting to link the word "Disclosure" to my disclosure statement for people who want more details. That statement discusses compensation.

As for the interview with Martin: Thanks for your openness, Glenn. Nothing less than I expected.

That's the right way to do it David. That way we have a choice of whether or not to look at the boring details. If I ever have anything to disclose, that's how I'll handle it.

Very well organized site. I particularly liked the resources section.
Will use it to plan my next trip to NWT. See you soon.
