Gender Genie confirms I'm a man, pretty much

Over at Everything Is Miscellaneous I've posted about the Gender Genie, a tool that guesses the authors' sex based on her/his use of innocuous keywords. ..

I'm not impressed so far. I gave it two pieces of my writing and two written by women. Out of the four, it got one of my two right.

Rachel, don't feel bad. You're clearly just not using the words "pink" and "unicorn" enough.

Dave...the Gender Genie (which I told Michael Skoller about at Beyond Broadcast) found that I'm female on my personal blog and male at my topical/less-personal blog. The Gender Genie's results were no surprise to me, as I specifically designed and manipulate the writing styles to appeal to different gender groups. Sure, there's overlap in who's reading the blogs, but I find that men are more apt to link to the topical blog than to my personal blog, even when the personal blog was highly topical and even technical (discussions on linklove and community.) It seemed that any mention of the sturm und drang of my personal life made my personal blog "un-linkable" to many men, who seem to prefer the "thinking" aspect of my topical blog. (note: the permalink I always post is to my topical blog--google me to find the personal blog) Still, I'm pretty much an "acquired taste" in the overall blogosphere.
