Salon is running a transcript of Al Gore's fierce speech yesterday about the danger to democracy posed by an executive branch that recognizes no limits on its authority. Salon's titles it with this quote: "America's Constitution is in grave danger." I admire Gore, and not just for speaking out so forcefully. He has learned from his defeat in a way that Kerry has not. I hope Gore runs for president. PS: You can read the transcript in Salon by agreeing to watch an ad. I wish Salon would make an exception in this case and just openly post it. Sweet, thanks for the link. When I read the AP news story about the speech all I wanted was to find the transcript - and now here it is.

Not that I am giving Bush and Co a pass, not sure where the NSA thing is in legal terms, but it stinks.

after gore went through the hanging chad fiasco, grew a beard and disappeared for a while, he came back with a purpose. i'm loving his righteousness and i'm loving currentTV. but here's my problem: where was *this guy* when he was in office?
look, i'm not naive. i fully realize than when in office, you're playing by different rules, your head in caught up in the game of politics, etc. but, man. gore would've won by a landslide if this was his consistent MO.

No one who can get elected is clean. (Hmmm. John McCain?) I believe Gore has grown and changed. I admire that.

i agree, he has changed. unfortunately, it's something that's not tolerated in the politics of life, let alone the politics of politics.
by the way, thomas, here's a link regarding the "Gore" past
