Co-produced by Chat the Planet (NY) and Iraqi filmmakers in Baghdad, the movie series Hometown Baghdad shows Iraqis in Baghdad talking to a camera in their homes, schools and places of business. The constant stream of war news that predominately covers only troops, insurgents and religious fanatics leaves one numb after a while. In contrast, these videos inspire a feeling of amazing connection by telling the stories of ordinary people in Iraq, people who are making the best they can out of appalling circumstances. Perhaps, seeing Iraq in a new way like this will lead to discovering new paths to peace.
