How to be cheap: Laptop mice

I've been going through laptop mice like a cat goes through mice. The cords fray where they join the USB plug. But my latest cheap laptop mouse has lasted for months because I applied some preemptive Goop — the viscous glue you can use to fill in a worn sneaker sole — at the join. Works like a charm. Plus, it makes it look like you just sneezed on your mouse, useful for keeping the person next to you on the plane curled up in the far side of his seat. [Tags: tips goop mice]

Wireless mice are the bomb!

Yeah, I like them, but not on planes.

Plus, I have to tie my receiver to my mouse to avoid losing it, whereas the wired mice already come with a convenient leash!

your receiver fits into a space on the bottom of most wireless mice...I follow one rule on planes...read, don't write...it solves a lot of issues...

That's so gross!

And I thought it was just me. I'm really hard on laptop mice and have considered buying them in bulk. Why doesn't Costco do 3-packs for losers like me?

What I really hate is when I find a neat, comfortable, functional, accurate mouse that I really like - only to kill it six months later and then discover that they've "upgraded" (i.e. buggered) it, so that I can't even buy a direct replacement for the wee beastie I've come to love.

Must try the goop tip. Thanks!
