I read the book. I've heard the speeches. I've heard him address a small group. I love Obama. Now he has to live up to being Obama. The last thing any of us want is for his arc to be like Wesley Clarke's: Enormous (and well-deserved) initial enthusiasm, quickly deflated by not being able to live up to inflated expectations. (I wouldn't want to make a lot of this, but in Obama's announcement video—on the Web first, btw-the only sign of TOWL (the Obama We Love) is that he's not wearing a tie.) I'm excited about Obama in 2008. I'm a little more excited about Gore-Obama in 2008. [Tags: obama gore politics] Posted

How about Edwards-Obama (or vice versa, I don't really care)? It's the best of both worlds. Gore has a lot to offer from his current platform and little to gain by running for the hardest job in America.
I don't dislike anything about Obama (yet), but at same time I don't see him building a broader movement for long-lasting social change (and for electoral success for that matter).
Plus: First Lady (and geek) Elizabeth Edwards! How cool would that be!

I am a big fan of the Edwards also. I like John's emphasis on class. As for Elizabeth, I read her book and fell in love with her. I think they're humble, decent, smart and truly compassionate people.

I really like Edwards and Gore but as an Illinoisan who has met Obama and who has friends who are very close to him, I think he will be the most effective candidate at building a movement for social change, especially given his roots as an organizer.

I never thought of Edwards and Obama together on the ticket. That would be awesome! A friend of mine just created some great Obama bumper stickers (http://www.obama08sticker.com) but of course, she'll have to redo them if Edwards and Obama actually did run together.

I've written a cool Obama'08 gadget for Live.com, Google, Spaces and can be added as a code snippet on websites and blogs. It's a cool mix of technology and politics. I thought you may want to check it out. It's at http://obama.livegadgets.net/. It would be cool if you give it a mention.

Ive heard Obama make his speeches and I have to admit that he is an elquent speaker, much tooelequent. When asked about an issue he seems to consistently give a long, drawn out oration that sounds good but has no substance whatsoever. The only bad things that the publicc knows about him are the things that he has admitted to (weed and cocaine usage) and that is all. Nobody has mentioned or written, anywhere, a single other mistake that he has made in his life. It is not natural. I do not trust Barack Obama.
