The end of the dream

Unfortunately, due to the accelerated pace of the Internet, my political opponents unearthed a fact about my past that looks more damning than it was, I denied it, new evidence showed that I was not being completely forthright, the story mushroomed, and as a result, this morning I reluctantly announce I am no longer a candidate for the presidency of this great land.

My campaign is over, but the dream lives on in the hearts of all of you, my supporters. Your hard work has touched my heart. I have learned so much about America in the long six minutes of my candidacy. I will never forget you.

God bless America. [Tags: politics humor]

They're letting you blog from rehab?!?!?

PS. FWIW, I don't think saying the Dixie Chicks aren't all bad is such a big deal. It's not like you were talking about their music, fer gawd sakes.

We're crushed. But, life goes on. I guess I'll have to throw my support to the draft Amanda Congdon movement.

You would have made a great president, David.

Today, in normal politics necessary decisions are delayed for 30 years and more. Simply because it is so easy to make voters vote mainly driven by angst. And simply because it is so easy to drive politicians by the angst of becoming reelected. Those voters are the victims of their own votes. Politicans can't make valid decisions and therefor rarely get a better reputation. But because it is either normal or easy to bring your opponent to stumble and to make him incredible and to drive more and more angst as the deciding motivation, politics has become a brutal game in the sandbox in which the players either brutally and ridiculously fight for the bucket which has a big hole.
In my country the Government by these rules hasn't been able to make real desicisions for a very long time. The current parlament hasn't done almost one valid decision this current legislative. And they delay and delay the real decisions because they are simply afraid of not being reelected. Everybody plays this game, without rethinking the premises for generations.

How would it be, if we had more fairness and cooperation even between opponents? I think politics needs fairness and cooperation between opponents. To run states is only possible if we all rethink the unknown rules of politics. And criticism is important for politics. But as in normal decision processes of private enterprises and persons, if criticism sets in too early, it destroys the creativity of the decision processes. Criticism is the test of the validity. But today it is a weapon to simply undermine the valid decisions.
It would be an act of responibillity to rethink the roles of the players in this system. Simply it goes for the validity of public decisions. Currently they are far away from what is people's capability. But everybody takes almost will-less part in the big sandbox game for the bucket with the hole, which politics is today. That's why it doesn't work.

Democracy lives from participation. But therefore credibility is a necessity. And sandbox games are not a reputation for a credible system.
