Questions for Joshua Schachter

Joshua “del.icio.us” Schachter is going to be my guest at Tuesday night’s “Web of Ideas” at the BerkmanCenter — which, by the way, is open to the public. I’m going to interview him and then we’ll have open discussion.

So, what do you think I should ask him?

And, do you wanna come? If so, here’s a map. It’s 6:00-7:30 on Tuesday. And, yes, we’ll try to get it up as a podcast, but then you’ll miss out on the free pizza. [Tags: ]

  1. Hay Joshua. When are you going to fix import? I’m using del.icio.us now because of flock, but if I can’t import my current bookmarks that entire function is largely useless to me.

    • What will it take to get consistently better performance?
    • Do you have a business model (yet)?
    • What was the August traffic spike?
    • Any plans to make del.icio.us more suitable for mobile devices?
    • Are ISBN’s use much for tags?
  2. Scare quotes – surprising fun things you’ve seen “the platform” used for.

Girls just want to have fun – Are people solving serious problems?

Network effects – Will one tag space rule them all?

Holloween question: Good witch or bad: preferential attachment?

Bad actors – are they willy or just lame?

Quality – what does it mean in open tagging?

Community development – Have you stumbled on ways to give positive feedback to contributors who raise the quality – assuming there are quality’s to raise?

Old guard/new guard – How about those carefully designed classification systems, what’s up with dem?

    Techno-solidarity – where’s the RDF love?

Clue train – is this social lite?
