Who’s Gore For?

Posted on January 31st, 2008

Why hasn’t Al Gore endorsed one of the candidates yet? Is he holding back because he thinks there’s still room in the race for him?

PS: Ralph Nader Who? [Tags: politics al_gore ]

Maybe he’s sitting out the whole endorsement/prom date thing. It will be easier to accomplish his goals if he just keeps on doing what he knows needs to be done and then negotiates for his positions with who ever gets nomination nod.

A Gore endorsement of Obama would be a tipping point with waving Hillary supporters. It’d put Obama over the top. Esp. if he pointed out, as Teddy K did, that Obama’s ready on day 1. That “inexperienced” meme is SUCH a crock.

Do it, Al. You know you want to.

I’ll bet his kids are pushing him.

TFK (I’ll let you fill in the F for yourself :)) brings a specific constituency to the table. I don’t think Al Gore does that, really. I love the man and I’d have voted for him this year if he’d gotten in, but people are coming around to Obama on their own.

And for Al and the globe, always better to hedge his bets in case Clinton does win this thing.

The Gores and the Clintons are very close. Al Gore is also a very smart, well-meaning politician who got royally **burned** in the 2000 election — to the point where he practically told the political world to promptly go fuck itself.

I can see Gore endorsing Obama because he truly wants change and not just talk of change, but I can also see him endorsing Hillary because of how close the two families are.

My biggest fear is that if Hillary gets the nomination, there are too many old, white assholes in this country who will never vote for a woman for president. My other biggest fear is that if Obama gets the nomination that there are too many ignorant racist assholes in this country who will never vote for a black person. Secondly, if Obama does get the nomination and eventually wins, how long can he expect to serve before some wacko decides to assassinate him?
