Google almost done digitizing Harvard collection

Posted on March 17th, 2008

Google is almost done scanning books at Harvard. Of the 15 million books in the Harvard collections, Google is only scanning one million because it’s excluded any protected by copyright or that are too fragile, too big, or too small to be scanned.

Hello: just curious, where did you get this information? Did you talk to someone at the Harvard library? I see nothing about this on the Library website nor on the Google books blog. As a librarian, I tend to ask for attribution!!

This came from a librarian at Harvard. I’d asked her if it was bloggable, but I didn’t ask her if I could use her name (because I forgot), although she’d presumably be ok with it.
