Johnny Carson apparently thinks of five new jokes every time he reads the paper and is frustrated that he doesn’t have a stage on which to perform them.

no way–written humor and stand-up comedy are entirely different arts. even writing for one performer instead of another is entirely different.

Johnny Carson could just film himself reading the newspaper and making quips, and post that online under CC license. Folks could remix the best parts into new shows.
