[Vanguard] Me

I just gave my presentation. Basically, since this conference is talking about Knowledge Management, I tried to shout the words “flesh” and “desire” as often as possible.

  1. So how did the format feel? Based on your previous entry, I am very curious. What is the story of your presentation? The audiences?

  2. The format is intimidating. Everyone has a microphone, and people ask questions as they arise. I normally like being interrupted and engaging in conversation, but in this case my talk was structured as an excavation, so I really wanted to get to the end. The audience was considerate – there were some questions and objections, but people agreed to let me respond briefly and continue.

I’ll probably write up what I said and post it somewhere. In essence, I wanted to argue (gesture) that there’s a price to making things explicit because all (?) value comes from the deep, tangly, inchoate unspoken of life. Or something.

  3. I should have mentioned that one reason the audience is intimidating is that it’s so damn smart.

  4. This is the ‘who gets to talk’ problem – with a textual back-channel like an on-screen chatroom, the audience can comment without directly interrupting you, and you can pick up their points at your own convenience.
